the road

so my question is... would you want to live if all you have are memories?

i'm watching "the road" (sidenote: better book than movie) and i can't help but wonder what i would think this situation, how i would react. would i really want to live if i had nothing to look forward to? i mean, there is NO CIVILIZATION! and the world is gray with not an indication of color in sight. i can't be the only one thinking that these characters have no reason to keep on truckin', right?

hopefully i'll never have to find out what it means to be truly lonely, and i kind of feel weird even THINKING that if SOMETHING happened in this world that i might not want to see it all the way though.

hmm... interetsting...

The reason they have to keep on living is each other. The "fire" that they keep referring to in the book is compassion and love for other human beings. As long as there are loved ones or good, kind-hearted people in the world, it will always be worth living in. No matter the environmental conditions.

At least that's my interpretation.

SPAC Saturday!
