i've been getting aaron karo's e-mails for as long as i can remember. mostly because i never took myself off his list, but also because i think he's kind of witty. his e-mails are titled "ruminations (insert number here)" and come out twice a month (i think? i don't pay attention...), but if you're looking for a quick fix or a good way to pass the time, check out his website. you can submit your own rumination or judge people on theirs. it makes me giggle...

mountain jam, here i come!

so i caved. i sucked it up. i put all my reservations aside. i did the unthinkable: i bought a ticket to a festival!

let me tell you this, i am pretty much as openminded as they come. but going to a festival just seems like such a hassle. aside from that, i probably won't get any sleep and will have to work a full week of work the next week! complaints, complaints. but as i said, i sucked it up... and i'm a-goin'!

i'm 110% positive that the good will outweigh the bad. i will be in fantastic company with music in every direction i turn. i'll meet new friends, travel new lands, experience new... experiences. it will be june and (hopefully) the weather will be divine. who knows, maybe i'll even meet a mountain man to call my own.

besides lbb seriouslyyyy hating on me for judging before experiencing (which, i hate to say, was what i was doing...), the fact that levon helm and grace potter will be there was enough to throw all apprehensions out the window and say:

i know i KNOW i'm late with this! but i've been overwhelmed with the speed of today. it was too fast for what i was expecting! anyways, i already entered the lottery for 2 shows: 6/19 for lbb's bdizzle, and the 6/25 show at camden because it's a saturday. friday's show will be annoying to get to and the show on the 20th is on a sunday sooo the rest of the shows will be last minute decisions pretty much based on what my friends are doing and how much money i have in my wallet. lbb is even dreaming of going to california and i can't say that i dislike the idea...

random tuesday evening thought

so... i thought i would start this blog to pretty much talk about myself. rant and rave about various x-factors in my life. however, that has not really been the case so far. and i think i know why: i'm a positive person; good in mind, body, and soul. i don't want to sit around and have a pity party about everything that isn't wrong with my life. sure, things could be different. but things could ALWAYS be different, you know what i mean? and different doesn't always mean better! but the fact of the matter is, this is how things are. i consider myself to be an extremely (over)confident female who happens to lead an extremely amazing and lucky life, and i feel especially lucky that i have people in my life to remind me of my strengths whenever i feel blue. and it's true, i've been a little bit sad as of lately. could be because i'm tired? maybe it's because i feel... unwanted? or maybe it's because i fucked up my birth control last month, stupid hormones! (don't worry boys, no wammies. pinky promise.)

i'm feeling overwhelming emotions of complete opposite sides of the spectrum and truth be told, i have no idea what to do with myself. but i'm alive, and that's a beautiful thing :)

a little update on my favorite network of original programming:

nip/tuck series finale (which i can't believe i haven't talked about!!!): i didn't love it, but i've learned that it was a necessary ending. HATED the way kimber went out.. and very confused about all character relationships. but overall, i enjoyed watching the series. season 3 is most definitely the best. there is nothing better than the carver. 'nough said.

rescue me: premiering in june!!!

sons of anarchy: premiering this fall!!!

justified series premiere: too much violent, not enough sex. thoroughly enjoyed and looking forward to the rest of the season.

my week(end) in review

ok- so over the past few days i've been either hungover, sad, sleeping... or all of the above. but mostly i've just been busy. so here are a few highlights of my past weekend:

- friday is when my allergies started to kick my ass. i'm sitting in the gyno's office (imagine that) with my best friend brooke who happens to have the appointment before me (seriously.... isn't this story awesome?) when my eyes start to close and my skin starts to itch. my father comes (yes, to the gyno) to bring me meds. i call out of work. and i sleep my day away until it's time to see alice in wonderland...

- which i hated! i don't know what it was, but i was so uninterested in the movie about 5 minutes into it. i wish not to discuss further until a few weeks from now, when people have had time to draw their own conclusions.

- saturday was spent being a vegetable. then city living! dinner at a yummy east village italian restaurant for roomie ali's birthday, along with 20+ of her closest friends. then we headed over to whiskey town, a friend-own'd bar, in which i spent roughly $100 on patron and house rum.

- as you can imagine, sunday was spent sleeping my life away

- today was spent waking up at 9AM (one of the few really good perks at my job!) and then finding out shortly after that the boy i fancy just isn't that into me.

- let's see what monday night has in store...

this is probably the greatest "toy" i've heard about in a very long time! because let's face it: it's not reallyyyy a toy. as the article says, adults are going to collect them and keep them in their proper boxes and treat them as collectibles more than toys. but just the fact that mad men barbies even exist makes me happy to be part of those who watch the AMC original series. however, the "suggestions" of accessories are by far the best part of this concept. no barbie is complete without a flask and a diaphragm.
